אמבטיה משופץ עם שבלונות

You Can’t Always Get What You Want

It’s a sad fact of life – one the Stones sing about, but there is truth in those words.  What I really really wanted was a Silhouette Machine  newcameo sihlouette which is just about the coolest machine for DIYers EVER.

But as of right now, the closest place to purchase this cute little bugger is in England, which is not far, but you know, shipping, taxes…and then where would I get all the vinyl and stuff I need to support my addiction? You starting to see the problem here?  So – I ordered instead some stencils. (שבלונות) in Hebrew.
Now you can get stencils here.  Mostly in hobby shop like places here in Israel.  I did order from the states though – from this very cool place – Cutting Edge StencilsThey have an amazing array of very good stencils for a very reasonable price.                                                                Trellis-wall-stencil

So although I could not do this –

Glam-Bathroom-Makeover-33-699x1024 from the great website Classyclutter.net.

I was able to do this!

plain corner cabinet  corner cabinet and wall flowers!

blank wall  mirror and wall flowers   mirror and wallpaper20150218_095429  back wall

The overall result is a very nice bathroom – the walls no longer some weird putty colored tea-ach boringness.

Although I watched the video on the cutting edge site (nothing like the old Disney movie I am afraid) I still did not get how little paint you need and how dry the little rolling brush as to be, until I moved onto the gold paint.  Then I finally got it.  So the gold flowers came out way way better than the white.  The white had too much paint and the paint was too thick, I should have thinned it out a bit.  Oh well, live and learn.  Now I think I am going to do something for my daughter’s apartment.  Maybe some art for her bedroom, she is complaining that it looks like a student dorm, and she wants something more grown up.

Stenciling is very very time consuming.  This took me a good 2-3 hours and I had to do some weird ladder contortions to get the whole thing done.   I saw this other link on Pinterest, a woman who did this cool moroccan trellis cut out and she said the whole wall took her maybe 6 hours, and she painted one hour a day for a week….maybe she’s a magician?  I don’t know.  I am just an average person.  I am also thinking of stenciling some ikea furniture.  Let you know how that goes next week on….Do It Yourself Israel.
